This program was implemented for Bhand (Badi) people of Doti district with the financial support of Ministry of Local Development, GON from August 1995 to July 1996. Sixty-nine men and women of 10 groups of Badi people of Dipayal Silgadi Municipality and Mudegaun, Jijodamandu, Girichauka, Kalikastan, Daud VDCs of Doti district were benefited with this project. Main activities under this program were: training and production of ceramic materials and its marketing, training and distribution of Angora/rabbit farming, pit latrine construction and health awareness training including AIDS prevention training and distribution of first aid kit box to the Badi people. Now some of the families are involved in the production and marketing of ceramic materials.

  • 69 members of 10 group of Bhand (Badi) people
  • 25% of Bhand (Badi) family are still engaged in such activities
  • 5 to 10 thousand earnings per month from such activities
  • Socio-economic upliftment and maintaining better livelihood
  • Created local level employment opportunity
  • Provide 1 month training on ceramic materials production
  • Provide master training to 2 person of Bhand people
  • Provide materials such as wheel, beating system, moulds etc.
  • Distribution of Angora/rabbit five for each group
  • Construction of pit latrine in their house
  • Provide 5 days HIV/AIDS prevention training to Bhand people
  • First aid box and general medicine were distributed
  • Awareness activities on income generation and HIV/AIDS
  • Facilitating for marketing
  • Social mobilization, mass meetings, personal visit and meeting etc.
